Victorian Hats and Bonnets in 12th scale
As the 19th century progressed the bonnets became smaller and various other styles of hat started to appear, such as the toque and the low crowned flat-brimmed designs of the Victorians. Original 19th century antiques and fashion magazines have inspired many of the designs below.
All hats are 12th scale and silk lined unless otherwise specified
Sandria...Milk chocolate silk picture hat with a oval crown trimmed with deep blue, cream and tan lace and embroidered tulle.The wide brim is entirely faced with cream lace.
Salome....an exquisite 12th scale hat of buttermilk silk with a narrow crown trimmed with delicate lace and cornflower ruffles. The tiny silk roses and flowers are handmade and a full veil of lace trimmed silk tulle is draped to the back of the crown.
Cecily....A combination of a stylish duck egg blue trimmed with cream lace and a rounded crown of pintucked cream silk with a velvet and pearl bow. Silk lined .
Perlita...A baby pink beauty of silk velvet with a narrow brim trimmed in pink lace and stitched with baby pink beads.
'Constance'...... this smart shallow crowned design of slate blue is worn perched high on one side of the head showing off the curls of perfectly toning feathers, tiny co-ordinating silk roses and vivid blue seed pearls. The sweeping brim is faced with cream piping giving a suggestion of straw and this is also studded in blue pearls. A silk bandeau holds the hat in it's elegant position.
Sacha.......A low crowned hat of pistacho silk, the crown overlaid with cream cotton lace and textures. Suitable for a shabby chic or country setting. Dried flowers and wisps of feather add the final touches to the slightly curved brim
Rose........ inspired by the TV series 'Ripper Street' this is a combination of antique rose velvet with vibrant peacock silk and organza braided around the high crown. Lace and bows add height to the 19th century toque style with a touch of gold trimmed organza and a brooch of old gold set into the front.
Zita...Reproduced from a design from the early Victorian period this black silk toque is trimmed with old gold and black vintage braid and bows of silk to give height. Delicate flowers trim the crown and a black veil and lace ribbon is draped.
Samanta........Cool teal silk falls into folds around a rounded crown on this prim Victorian 12th scale chapeau. The narrow brim is a mass of rosebuds and ecru lace and a delicate narrow feather sweeps across the top of this lovely piece.
'Ornella'..........A dainty 19th century chapeau of buttercream silk with a rich layer of vintage oatmeal lace over the narrow brim. The low rounded crown is lace covered and ruffles of dusty pink velvet nestle into the sides. A spray of taffeta and silk buds adorn the front.
'Norina.......An exquisite toque hat of woven hazelnut silk with a softly draped wine silk velvet crown and pale gold tulle veil that falls to the shoulders. Organza rosettes are clasped with bronze and tiny jewels. The hat is lined with hazelnut charmeuse.
'Ilaria'.......A dainty narrow brimmed hat with rounded crown created from rose silk overlaid with embroidered ecru tulle. The lace trimmed brim is faced with contrasting pale gold silk and festooned with raspberry taffeta ribbon and a spray of handmade flowers and tiny buds. A tulle and taffeta bow finishes the back.
Mimi.......A delicate early Victorian toque of hazelnut silk with a narrow brim and small flat crown decorated with lace and tiny peach and blue buds. A tiny broze and pearl clasp decorates the front and lace and silk falls to the shoulders
Nerezza.........A simple but stylish low crowned hat of terracota silk with matching piping and peacock blue folds of silk studded with bronze. Beautifully tailored and lined.
